| Catalyst Paper names new Chairman of the Board |

| RICHMOND, BC, July 29 Catalyst Paper (TSX:CTL) announced several changes to its board of directors which take effect July 30, 2010. Assuming the role of chairman is Benjamin Duster IV, former chairman of Algoma Steel. Mr. Duster joined the Catalyst board in December 2007 bringing 20 years of Wall Street experience. He is a graduate of Harvard Business and Harvard Law Schools and was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1985. Mr. Duster is a director on several corporate boards including Jazz Air Holding GP Inc.
